The Drama Continues

My day pretty much started with two(rude and obnoxious) detectives coming to my home to interview my son about the car stealing ex-con. The detectives made sure we saw their guns and one of the guys just kinda wandered around my house LOOKING at everything. My child was giving them the information they needed to put this scum bag away(and they wanted him badly) and they act as if I was a part of the crime. As if I was parent who couldn't keep control of my son. Hey bozos! My kid isn't the one who stole the car or the flat screens or the stereos. He's the one who called them to report the ex-con because I have taught my kid right and wrong. He's not perfect but he's no criminal either.

Then the jerks interviewed the boys who allowed the ex con to stay at their place with no knowledge of who he was and what he did. I think the biggest crime of all 3 boys is that were too trusted and too nice. Yes, their judgment wasn't the best. They also took the time to rectify their mistake.

They arrested the excon who is now a con again. This is his 3rd strike. The detectives got exactly what they wanted and not one thanks, or we appreciate it, glad you called. NO, they looked at these 3 naive and clueless boys as if they were scum in the making. Shouldn't these kids be acknowledged for making the correct decision to turn the guy in?

I have always been pretty pro-police. I feel they help us most of the time. These detectives are making me wonder about that stance. I still can't believe the one guy made sure everyone saw his gun in the back of his pants and walked all over my place, without permission, looking at everything. GRRRRR.
Thanks again for all your wonderful support and encouragement.

Update

My little boy is little no more. He got caught up in a crowd he should never even have met. He took meth without knowing it. It was not cocaine. This is why his mania revved up. He's sleeping right now and he still doesn't want to talk to me or to really even see me. He is talking to his friend that helped him at the hospital yesterday. (I can live with this. He is talking to someone and that is what is important).

He's very remorseful and I'm pretty sure he scared the crap out of himself. There is also some murky business with a new roommate to his friends. This guy is an ex-con and has ties to car stealing rings and house thefts and I believe he is the one who had the meth.

BPB is cooperating with the investigation and hopefully this person will be back in jail soon. I'm a little antsy about the situation but the ex-con is not aware BPB and friends have talked to the cops. We'll see how this turns out in the end. I pray excon has no weapons.

I am sitting wondering how a middle class girl from the midwest ended up in the middle of such a mess. I have never broken a law in my life except for the 42 parking tickets I got in college the first time I went.

I will continue my studies in nursing because I can tell they need good nurses who are compassionate, friendly and willing to listen. I know I can do that. One of the people at the ER YELLED at me because BPB is 18 and he did not want me to have any info. OK lady, did you need to scream at me in the waiting room?

I will learn from this event and can only pray to the Lord BPB does as well. If he doesn't I have done my best and that is all I can ask of myself.

Once again my friends, you are incredibly compassionate and caring and I thank you from the bottom of my pieced together heart!!!!!!!!!

A Community That I am So Proud to Be A Member

I am overwhelmed and grateful for the support you have shown me in the past 24 hours. Without your messages and emails and phone calls I might be sitting here wondering what point my life has. My point in life to help all of you be supported and help continue the kindness you have shown to me. I have few people to talk you here at home while online I have a village.
Thank you all very much.
HUGE HUGS For all!

Some Days are Better Than Others

BPB who is shown in this picture, spend the vast majority of his life being a joyful star in my galaxy of our family. He was an adorable baby and good natured and giggly at the same time. BPB figured out child locks 4 hours after McHub put them in,(Boy was McHub ever peeved it only took the boy one hour at the age of nine months to figure them out!)

BPB is my oldest child and was the kid who got me to himself for over two years. We adored one another. McHub travelled quite a bit so it was me the Keeman. This child brought me happiness and joy I never knew existed. He was a cuddly, giggly, ticklish and loved being held and hugged and sitting on my lap or lying atop of me. We co-slept and Keeman(Kee-man, family nickname) could not go to sleep unless I held into his foot. That's right his foot. "Foot Mommy hold foot!" he'd demand.

We were very close until the end of seventh grade when the normal peer pressure set in. I still know where he was, who he was with, if there was an adult present etc.
I never missed a Little League game, a select baseball game or even wrestling matches(EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW). I'd hide my eyes but I watched.

When Keeman was 17 he started acted quite oddly, very different from his previous behaviors. I did not pick up on his BP until he had his first hypomanic episode in March 2006. Then our world fell apart. His world, my world, our family's world. I got him into a shrink and he was put on meds. I supported him to the best of my ability though my heart broke knowing his life would be more difficult to negotiate with a mental illness.

We had to make compromises in our parenting. We let his go without curfew because he snuck out otherwise and would not answer his phone. If we allowed him out at least I knew who he was with and he would answer his phone.

He quit high school January of his senior year. I had no recourse, he was 18. It broke what little part of my heart that was still intact.

One of the HUGEST problems in mental health laws is once they are 18 they can request no information be given out, especially to parents. That is what happened today. It infuriates me that one day he's 17 and my dependent and the next day~he's an "adult". The laws protect the ill but they screw the parents. We have no rights.

He's sleeping across the room from me right now but I do not know what he'll do when he wakes up. It's all uncertainty now.

I will always love my son and that is why he has the power to destroy my poor heart into the fragments it lays in tonight.

Thank you all so much for your understand, love and support. It means more that I can put into words. HUGE hugs for all. Sorry I'm not funny today. ;)

Broken Hearted

NO THROWBACK THURSDAY Today. Maybe next week.

I wasn't going to write about this but then I changed my mind. Other parents may have experienced such incidents.

BPB ended up in the hospital today Dumbass decided to try cocaine for the first time ever. He ended up with hallucinations, delusions, a heart rate of 155bpm and fast breathing. His friends Megan and Sam took his to the hospital and I met them there. He was a sweaty, flushed, red and jittery. It sent him into a major manic episode.

He refused to see me. He had Megan in the back with him and he told the nurse NOT to tell me anything. This is where my heart ripped in half. Again.

I feel like I've failed as a mother. I've already lost one son, I lost the opportunity to have more children and now my oldest didn't want any part of me. I broke down and cried for over an hour.

I stayed home to raise my kids. We made cookies together and played with playdough. We made forts together. We created with Legos together. I loved them always. I volunteered in their classroom~preschool and through 9th grade. I read them a story every single night. I slept with them when they were scared. I listened to them. I was on the Little League board of directors, the PTA board of directors and I spent plenty of time with my boys. I made it to all their plays and sporting events. I pray for them. I was the one BPB used to tell all his secrets to. When BPB was in need, the last person he wanted to see was his MOTHER.

Can someone tell me why?

The bad mother who failed in her life mission.

Wordless Wednesday (HA!)

BPB 5 years ago in his favorite place, playing his favorite game.

The Uncle and his nephews.

My baby brother Jamie with BBB 2002.

Jamie with BPB hanging with health food.

Guess Who????

My baby brother Jamie. I was 7 when he was born. I used to crawl into his crib every morning to entertain him, giving my mom extra sleep. He was MY first baby. Even though you cannot see it at this age, BBB is the one who most looks like my family, especially his uncle Jamie.
Incredible how much kids can grow in only 5 years...............

Heads or Tails Tuesday

The assignment today was to show/write about your hobby or do the tails subject~something that rhymes with hobby. Well, I chose the word SLOBBY! We can call it a bunch of names such as cluttered, disorganized, messy, piss your McHub off piles, I'm too tired to bother stacks and on and on. It all comes down to SLOBBY! Don't forget to go to Skittles page to see more Head or Tails Posts or check out my Heads/Tails link box on the right side. Check it out:

Friends

Several of my blog sisters are having a tough time right now. Some of them are fellow sufferers of depression. Depression is not all in one's head. It's a chemical imbalance that can be caused by traumatic events, illness, major life events or just happen out of nowhere. It is not being lazy. It is being hopeless. It is wondering if anyone would notice if I disappeared. It is feeling like every thing you have accomplished is worthless. It really sucks. I, myself, have not had a really bad episode since my son quit high school last winter. From November until April I was in the pit. Now I'm doing pretty well though the last week has been in slow motion because of my lack of activity. My fault, not my neurotransmitters.

I would like to throw out some hugs and love to those who are navigating some rough water this week. I am not going to mention anyone by name because some people don't want to be looked at in pity or false sympathy. Or they are just private people. They know who they are.

I do want to mention Skittles. She has posted about it on her blog and it would be really nice and terrific if you could go give her some love and let her know we care about her. Uplifting messages and knowing you are not alone is very helpful. If you have a moment please go over to Skittles Place and say hey!

100 Things About Me

This is me in 10th grade. I still look quite a bit like this except I don't wear barrettes much anymore and I have a bit more wisdom that I did at 15. Oh! And I have bangs.

David over at Mischief just did his. I am well over a hundred posts but I was unaware of the tradition. I'll do mine now and since the blogworld has been kidnapped by marauding-panty-raiding-renegade- Republicans-masquerading-as-fraternity-boys(Shrub is trying to kidnap the vote). Is anyone else laughing as they picture Margalit being held by Republicans? Hehehe. Very funny image. The 10 of us that escaped might read this. David inspired me to do mine.

100 Things About Me

1. I am silly. Very, very silly. It's one of my best qualities.
2. I am blind. See me without my glasses and you can count on the fact I won't see you. Not a chance.
3. I used to be embarrassed by my glasses and when I was in high school I would only wear them in class and when I drove. "Vanity of vanities, thy name is Vanity."
(Ludwig Josef Johann Wittgenstein, April 26, 1889-April 29, 1951)
4. I started reading at age 4.
5. One of my very favorite books as a young child was "Are You My Mother?"
6. I like my men to be dark-haired and clean cut. I believe this is from growing up in the Midwest(I do have a small curiosity about men with beards).
7. I believe my ethics and beliefs were formed in Michigan when I was 10-16.9yo
8. My ethics and beliefs were only strengthened from observing all the "plastics" that inhabit So. Cal.
9. I had my first date at 15.
10. I also had my first kiss at 15 and it stunk. The yahoo I dated tried to date rape me in his car after a concert. His kiss was all slobbery and gross. If I was the woman I am now, I would have kicked the yahoo in the gonads, got out of the car and then I would yell for help. I just fought him off,(no cell phone or anything back then) went home, and screamed at my older brother who knew this guy wanted(to directly quote my brother) "in my panties".
11. My brother was the meanest person I knew when I was in my teens. Verbally speaking.
12. I have three brothers. One is older and two are younger.
13. My brothers and I have absolutely nothing in common.
14. I had a pretty happy childhood.
15. I think my parents did the best they could.
16. My mom died 10 years ago when she was only 64 years old.
17. My dad and I did not talk for 9 years after my mom died.(Long boring story)
18. My brothers now live in New Mexico, Santa Monica, CA and Pasadena, CA. My dad lives in AZ.
19. My grandparents on my paternal side spoke Hungarian even though they were born in the U.S.
20. My maternal grandfather died when my mom was 17.
21. My maternal grandmother died when I was a pre-teen. I never really knew her.
22. My mom was born in Toronto and remained a Canadian citizen until the day she died.
23. I was born in New Jersey and lived there my first 10 years.
24. I still miss NJ sweet corn.
25. A friend invited me on a trailer camping trip, with her parents, in August 1978 and we visited Niagara Falls, New Hampshire, Maine, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Montreal and Ontario. Most beautiful vacation EVER!
26. I have never been out of the U.S. except for Canada and one 4 hour trip to Tijuana. 4 hours was more than enough!
27. I never had a honeymoon.
28. I've been married for 20 years.
29. I've given birth to 3 male children.

Did The Apocalypse Happen When I Wasn't Looking?

HOLY MOLY FRIJOLES! Did everyone get raptured? Did the "big one" happen? Did everyone move to Alaska? Was the entire blog community kidnapped by rampant panty raiding terrorists from the University of Michigan? Has everyone caught the bird flu aka H5N1 and keeled over? Are ya getting MY message? Where the freakin' hell are all the bloggers?!?!?

Well, I suppose I am alone. Odd. Bizarre. Perhaps a migration happens every August 24th and no one told me. Which is ok, because I don't fly. I'm not a Canadian goose. Which is a good thing. Those geese are cranky old birds that poop all over the place. Now aren't you glad I'm NOT a goose from Canada? What? Oh yeah. I'm talking to myself, duh.

I guess this means I can get out as many library books as I want to AND I never have to return them! Yes. There are advantages to being the only person left on earth! Yup. It is nice and quiet. Very quiet. I can only hear the tv and my fan.

Speaking of being the only person left on earth, have ya'll ever seen Survivorman? I think I'm in love(yes, again). The guy eats scorpions, how cool is that? He survived 7 days in the Kalahari Desert with nothing but an old broken down truck and his wits. Damn, he's got lots o' wits. I would never ever(shaking my pretty lil' head NO!) survive 7 HOURS in the desert, let alone an entire week. I don't enjoy breaking a sweat so I'll stay 6000 miles North of the desert, thank you.

Anyhoo, this wacky guy, Survivorman, gets dumped in the worst places on earth and "they"(whoever the gutsy, nutsy photobugs are)film him purifying his own urine for water in the desert and stealing food from the dogs in Northern Canada, where he's got a dogsled and some fierce dogs, that's it. Holy cow, this man must be insane. Freakin A crazeeeee! Now he's let the dogs go, because they are smart enough to take care of themselves. Something Survivorman must lack as he ends up alone and without shelter. I bet He'd really like to find a Canadian goose right about now...HA! haha. OK so I crack myself up. Something wrong with that? Huh? I didn't think so.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey, maybe you are all abducted by aliens? Is everyone living in Mexico now? Heehee. That was a pretty good one too. Snerk. Habla espanol? Me neither. But I bet Survivorman does.......................

Reasons For Me to Get Up Off My Rear

I need to get my rear end and the rest of me offa this couch tomorrow(today):

a) So I can clean my lizards cage out. I need to move Shorty to a cage by himself. He's been an evil lizard lately. He bit off Godzilla's tail yesterday! OMG! I was ready to give him a tongue lashing when I realized (smacking myself on the forehead!) he's WASN'T one of my kids! You see, he was actually paying attention to me....unlike my teens. Poor Zilla is all lop-tailed now and it's so very sad(snivel, sniffle). Lil's tail got nailed too but he nails her tail every week or two. I have had it NOW! Shorty(who is no longer a "shorty" compared to his fellow anoles)needs to be alone. I hope Zilla will recover some of his mucho macho, cuz he's not acting like an alpha male anymore.

b) My 16yo informed that an hour wait to drive over the Golden Gate bridge was not worth it. So jaded at 16. (Shaking my head) Then his father drove by the "gay" area of SF(kid's words, not mine). Apparently, that wasn't worth the wait, either. I guess I can skip THE YouTube video...The 16yo needs to get off his computer for more than 10 minutes tomorrow. I will have to devise some off the wall form of torture to pry him from his hard drive.

c) I think my rear is turning blue from the leather that covers the couch. Not a pretty site, methinks.

d) I need to wade through all the accumulated paperwork from the last 12 months before BBB goes back to school. Cuz I know where all the "welcome to my classroom" paperwork is coming soon! A veritable flood of paperwork. If only I had a den, like I used to have, all the paperwork for years ended up in there.

e) I'm getting really tired of the "decor" in this room. Might be nice to see something besides this oooooggggglllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey wall paper I detest. We rent, I would have never put something so hideous on walls I owned. NEVAH!

f) My sense of humor seems to have seeped out of me along with my energy, my brain cells and my desire to do something productive. It's chemo brain!!! Chemo meaning chemistry class, of course. I think it ruined my brain forever. Maybe I will call Mass Gen(Massachusetts General Medical Center and Harvard's Medical school) and see of they have perfected brain transplants yet.

e) It's time to get over myself. I won't die because I only got a 3.1 on chem. I might not get into the nursing school I want, but I won't die.

Isn't it Ironic? Moronic?

Isn't it ironic............

that now Shrub mentions Iraq and Vietnam in the same sentence?

that the very same people who voted Shrub into office realize NOW(6 years later) that maybe he wasn't the best choice?

that when you have the most free time is when you are most bored?

that when we get what we had most wished for, we're unhappy?

Isn't it moronic...........

how people who seem perfectly sane turn into brainless fools behind the wheel of a car?

that there is now have a Dogbook.com and a Catbook.com? Online pets?=:-O

that the top story in KOMO News 4 is that 2 birds are on oxygen after a fire in a bird shop? Next up, Birdbook.com!

that now I have all this free time I can't find anything I want to do?

Heads or Tails

This is for Head Or Tails Tuesdays headed up by Skittles of Skittles Place. The topic for today is luck. Check out the links for MORE Tuesday Heads or Tails stories!

There was a family, many years ago, that had very little money. The father worked for $10.00 dollars an hour, the mother stayed at home to take care of the two young children. It had been about 2 years since this family had gone through the death of their youngest son. This family had a house to live in and two old cars to drive but very little money. The mother decided to get a seasonal job at Target so they could afford presents for Christmas. The father wasn't sure this was a good idea but the mother felt the children deserved something under the Christmas tree. The boys were 6 and 9 years old. It had been a rough few years for these boys with many changes happening surprisingly fast in their lives.

The mother went to apply to Target. She was nervous, she had not worked retail for over 10 years. She had not worked for a paycheck for over ten years. Target looked very cheerful with many holiday decorations displayed all over the store. The mother did not feel very cheery, she did not want to work but felt she needed to work for her family.

After the interview the mother went to her car in the rainy parking lot. She slid into her seat, closed the door and began to cry. She could not stop crying. She began to cry to God.The mother did notask for anything for herself, her focus was her children. She asked God why her little boys needed to suffer through the trials of life and death at such a young age? She pleaded with Him to know why these boys could not have a simple happy childhood just like she did? She knew God would answer her eventually but not then, not in the car in the dark rainy parking lot. She stopped asking questions and cried for about 20 more minutes. She tried to clean up her face and make it look like she was fine and had never cried.

She drove to the grocery store by their house to grab some food for dinner. She decided to buy chicken and rice and broccoli because it was quick and everyone would eat it. After she paid for the food, she stopped by the service center in front of the grocery store. For some weird reason she had bought a $1.00 state lottery ticket a few days before. This was odd because she never bought lottery tickets, especially now that they had so little extra money. She looked at the ticket quizzically and shrugged and decided to see if she had won a dollar or three.

All of a sudden the woman behind the counter said, "You won!"

The mother smiled and asked,"What? $3 dollars?"

The woman shook her head, "No. More."

The mother asked, "$20 dollars?"

The woman shook her head and smiled.

"Well?" asked the mother, knowing there was no way she could have won $600,000. Things like that never happened.

"You won $1,000!"

"Oh my gosh! No Way!" The mother said emphatically. "Come on, really?"

The woman handed her a little piece of paper across the counter. The mother had won $1000 dollars. She stood there with her mouth open. Then she began to cry again.
When she got into her car, she closed her eyes and put her face towards the sky and whispered, "Thank you God. Thank you for this miracle. Thank you for allowing me to make this Christmas a little more special for the boys. Thank you Lord for your gracious abundance."

The mother was humbled.

Luck? I don't think so. Two young boys got new bikes and helmets that Christmas. And a nice Christmas tree that the family decorated together, including the ornaments left over from their son in heaven, Brennan. The family sang carols of joy and grace and celebration.

If I Had a Million $$.........................

Bobby at revellian finally got me with this meme. Check out his web site where he's doing a series for beginning bloggers or those who are less techincal(like moi).

If I had a million dollars I would give it away. I am grateful for having a place to live out of the rain, food to eat, healthy children and grants to go to school. So if I had extra money it would go to those in need. I don't need a house in the "Eastside", a Lexus, my kids don't need any more clothing, (BBB has 7 pairs of sneakers! He imforms me that means he's a "sneakerhead".)the we rent is ok I cannot really ask for more. My needs are met. I have a laptop from 2004, it still works as well as it did when I got it, I have the internet, I can read. I have just about everything I could want.

Of course, it's easy to be generous with "fictional" money but I'd like to think except for maybe moving all the money would be for others.

You're Not My Mother!

A not very pretty snapsnot:

McHub and I were sitting here watching tv tonight when a really bizarre Pepto Bismal commercial came on. It was a lady from India singing in Indian the jingle from previous commercials. It struck me as really strange. I made a comment under my breath, "Whoa this is pretty f***ed up." All of a sudden the man I've been married to for more than 20 years snapped at me, "What did you just say?!?"

I goggled at him. Say whut?

He snapped again, as if I was 7 years old, "WHAT did you just say?"

"Why?" I asked, looking at him as if he'd grown horns and a ridge of scales down his back.

"Since when do you say that word?"

"I'm an adult, I can say whatever I want to say. Who are you to question me?" Now I was getting quite irked.

"You're as bad as the boys, you've never said that word before.." He said with an attitude of superiority.

"You're not my mother. Don't tell me what to say. It's not like you've never used the word."

He denied ever using the word. OH PULEAAAAAAAZEEEEEEEEEE! I guess I've been delusional for 21 years. Yup. That must be it.

When did we go from being married to one another to him being my parent? Someone is gonna get his face smacked if he keeps acting like his father. No I did not say that to him. It's the one thing guaranteed to make him angry. The sad thing is I see it happening. He's getting more rigid, less humorous and more cranky each day.

I did not marry my mother. I am 45 years old. I'm allowed to say whatever I want. This is America. Land of the FREE!

Many Meanings Yet Always Important

Here I am, borrowing some wings from a close friend of mine and yours(wink) to give out a special award. NICE MATTERS! This award was given to me(see below) and I get to wear my sapphire sleeveless Escada cocktail dress(with special push-up bra), my Jimmy Choo knockoff sandals, and I'm back here on the red carpet looking like a "superstar". But I am not just here to look damn good, nope(shaking my head with my freshly curled hair cascading down my bare back) I am here to give The Nice Matters award to several bloggers who I feel go out of their way to be nice. Some folks may consider nice boring, haw! Obviously, you've never met ME! These bloggers are kind to all, visit other's blogs and leave thoughtful comments and are nice in their blog posts as well. You come away from their sites feeling better than when you arrived. Now(with a flick of my hair and a quick view of my fantabulous legs) I will proceed.......

Think of the word "NICE". It can bring up so many images into our heads. Going back to the Jurassic Period otherwise known as high school, I was considered a nice girl. This was not just because I refused to have sex with all the boys (Which of course, I did refuse, it was the 70's after all!), it was also because I wasn't stuck up, I did not consider myself above everyone else, and I made an effort to be kind(as kind as teenage girls can be). I was the girl who was still in the church youth group in high school, I also taught the preschoolers Sunday School. I was the junior high girl who loved to learn and therefore would stay after class and help the teacher clean up. No, I wasn't brown nosing. I just loved learning so much that I wanted to hang around with the people who could enlighten me.(I was voted "Biggest Bookworm" in 9th grade NOT "Teacher's Pet") I had this bizarre philosophy that talking to adults was worth my time and my attention. I wasn't a total goody two shoes but I was pretty nice. I freely admit it(this IS a fictional blog, right?? snicker.).

Here at the blogosphere I have been quite lucky. I have run into nothing but niceness. Everyone has been helpful and fun and kind. I have seen the results of trolls but I have not been a target. This is a fun place. Walks Far Woman at her blog Kissing the Dogwoodhas bestowed this award on me:

Thank you WFW! I am astonished yet appreciative. Oh and thanks for acknowledging Polli from Polliwogs Pond who is one of the sweetest people I have met in the last few months. I lurve Polli!!

Now I get the pleasure of identifying five bloggers who I consider nice. (Thinking........still thinking......ummmmmmmmmmm..........hehe, Just Kidding!)

I would like to give this award to Audrey at Pinks and Blues Girls Audrey always shows her kindess to everyone but I'd like to acknowledge her ability to be nice in the face of snotty snarkiness(see previous post!) You're a class act Audrey.

Jenny at Absolutely Bananas and Seattle Mom Blogs who has been sweet, kind and patient with this fairly newbie blogger.

DeeJay at Simply Sassy who has a new grandchild and showed lots of pictures and is just a sweetie all the time.

Stacey at JameeForever who is kind and encouraging to all(except Democratic candidates!) and consistantly leaves lovely comments on everyone's blogs.

Last but certainly not least, Cathy at ArkieMama who as a working mom takes the time the read my blog and leave great and thoughtful comments.

WHOOPS! I almost forgot! I am giving this award to one more very special lady~Frannie The Blog Fairy!
The blog fairy encourages all bloggers and leaves a sprinkle of magic fairy dust as she flies along!

This award can be resized to fit your blog.

Please pass them on to 5 deserving people with a link back to the person who gave it to you.

Loving your work! Thank you for being so nice to me!! HUGS!

Competition?

This picture is of my two boys, McHub and my mother in law. This picture was taken last fall when the boys went down to Orange County to play in baseball tournament and I was left here to study Anatomy & Physiology. I get to miss all the fun! Just wanted to share this picture with ya'll. Three generations.

I was just over at Pinks and Blues Girls reading Audrey's post about her trip to Old Navy. Audrey was in line with her three completely adorable boys and she was standing behind a pregnant woman. The pregnant woman whipped around and began to regal Audrey with how her morning sickness was worse than any woman's in history. She also mentioned how awful to must be to have all boys and no girls and was Audrey crazy for having three kids anyways?

Yes, bimbo was no "lady". Audrey handled herself with class and the high road. This blog post started me thinking about how competitive mothers of children get. Even as early as pregancy. MY baby kicks me 237 an hour. How about yours? Yes guys, women do do this. I don't even think we know why.

I remember after having BPB, I would walk with him in his stroller to the park and once in awhile run into other moms and babies. Rarely, but it happened. I think I was the only stay at home mom in Irvine, California in the year 1989! Seriously. When moms and babies get together we can only talk babies. During childbirth, the doctor sucks your brains right out! (it's true they just don't tell you) and all you can talk about is your miraculous child and how perfect your labor and delivery was or conversely how freaking long your labor was~4 days and 23 hours...Your baby is the best nurser in the world or your nipples are so DAYAM sore you're afraid they're going to fall off any minute now.

Give it five or ten minutes and let the games begin!

"My BPB can roll over BOTH ways and he's only 6 weeks old." (Um, right. Mega embellishing ahead...)

"Oh. My babydoll is getting up on her hands and knees and she's only 4 weeks old." (Sign this girl up for the Olympics 2006!)

It seems to escalate from here. These moms can be perfectly nice, pleasant people but for some reason, women can get overly competitive when it comes to their kids. Maybe it happens because we're so exhausted we have no idea what we're saying. Or perhaps those hormones swimming around our bloodstream cancel out our IQs. I've seen happen with the kindest and most generous women I know.

It's wrong. I think most of us know it's wrong but we can't help ourselves because the last thing we want is to have developmentally delayed children or for the neighbor's kids to be "better" than our. I'm not even sure it's a conscious thing we do. I just know most of us have done it on an occasion or two. Maybe we do this because we love our children like we have never loved anyone before and the last thing we want is any flaws in our wondrous children.

My kids aren't in that competition anymore. Once I became aware of doing this, I stopped. I think when one has teens unless your child is a paragon of virtue, you'd rather have someone to understand your woes with your child rather than someone to play oneupmanship against.

At sporting events the competition begins again. After your child has hit a killer home run you will invariably hear, "Boy, your child can whack that ball." While underneath that comment you hear, "My kid could hit it further if he had the chance...." I have found this most true at baseball games versus soccer and football. If our kid is 8 it's not like the scouts are out yet so why do people do this. At sporting events it's NOT just the moms. It's dads and grandparents and cousins and aunts.

Let me make a suggestion. Instead of vying to have the perfect kid or the "better" kid, why don't we try and compliment other's children? This way we're looking for the best qualities in some one else's child, not just our own. Doing this might help all of us to become a little closer. They say it takes a village to raise a child. I say we need to make a village first.

YEEEHAAAWWW!!!!!! OVER!

It's over, it's over..........chemistry is over.....................lala....lalala.............lalalalalala..............la..it's over!!!

Oh, hey. Hi! I was just singing...cuz I'm free of chemistry, free of elements, free of acids and bases, free of balancing chemical equations, dimensional analysis, pH, free of mols, molecules, atoms, ions and isotopes. FREE! FREE! FREE! (humming my little tune)

Big news: in eight weeks of my PE class I lost 3% of my body fat and 13 lbs. Cool. I wasn't even trying very hard. Did my last 2 quizzes and the body fat thing this afternoon and now..........well, now I have FIVE weeks before I have to think again. (I know, you're thinking what's so new about that? Haha. Believe it or not, I do think.)

Now the "bad news": McHub and BBB will be home tonight. I wanted just one day without anyone home, nothing to study, no worries, no stress and they decided to come home 2 days early. ACK! McHub is telling me I can relax with everyone home. DUDE! You are one clueless man. With everyone home it will be~I'm hungry, you need to go shopping, you still have clothes in the dryer, are you going to sleep the day away, can you drive me to...., I need gas money, yadda, yadda, yadda. Pfffffffffffffftttttttttttttttttttttttt:P~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~! To each and every male related to me. Gee, would it have been too hard to hang out at the beach for one more day? What's the hurry to get home? Cripes. I have one wave length and the males have another and never the twain shall meet. (grumbledtupidmenfoolshavenotimeformyselfwhaaaa)

I am not sure how my chem final went. It was somewhat different from the usual tests and she didn't ask exactly the same things as before. I did not flunk it! I just don't know if I pulled an A or a B. Tricky sucker, that teacher.

Things I don't have to do for the next 5 weeks:

1. Wake up before noon! (YAWN)

2. Get annoyed with my lab partner and her questions that are in garbled English. She will be in my anatomy class next quarter. Super great. Fabulous. Not.

3. Think until just a moment before my brain is ready to implode and then crumble into dust and blow away. Phew.

4. Any math! I am math free. WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

5. Keep to a schedule. Sigh, how nice.

6. Study. Nope, not a darn thing for 5 weeks.

7. Worry if I'm wearing the same shirt twice in one week. No one here at home ever notices.

8. Wear any pants but my sweats.

9. Trip over my backpack. It will be put away. Out of the traffic zone.

10. No worrying over parking spaces.

11. No more dirty, icky construction workers to walk by at 6:45am.

12. No worry at all.

It's over. It's over............Chemistry is over..............lalala...............lalala..................it is totally over!!!

Wordless Wednesday

Here I am, almost two and I'm planning The Great Escape. It's really cool how this boat can also become a step stool. Ack! Gotta go~I hear Mommy coming....

BPB at 18 and years earlier at 4.
